Christmas Cards

Well, it's too late to send them this year. But, I was at the post office sending my grandson's first Christmas gift and while standing in line I spied these cards. I picked them up and looked, but decided I only had a 20 and it was too late to send them anyway. Still waiting, looking at them a few more times, I realized the package wasn't big or heavy...couldn't be more than $6-$8, and the cards were $10.95. They'd be great to have next year. No excuse to not send early, either. Ok, the stars, moon, planets, and twenty dollar bill aligned in this huge universe just so I could have these cards. How could I not??

I don't know how this stuff works that they sell in post offices, regional, random, individual locations order... I dunno. But maybe your post office has them, so I'm letting you know. Merry Christmas!!

That's a small box Tim. You've got thousands of friends here. Are you sure you have it covered?

Re: Christmas Cards

I was thinking 18 will last me forever. Bah humbug!

Heck, one would last forever by my record. I promise to do better next year, so can I have something other than coal?

Re: Christmas Cards

I'll take either. That would be cool, and that's what I've thought to do. I am just terrible about it. I finally got it down that it's not "as long as it gets there by Christmas", they need to be around till Christmas. So, Thanksgiving is the time, just like the lights. Well, I have the light thing working every year, but either don't sit down to send them or don't have any...and I want something special. The cards take preparing even earlier, or at least if you don't have any. So, buying a year ahead should help...if I can find them next year *

*It's cool, I have a place for that card and gift wrap stuff

Re: Christmas Cards

That's fantastic. You have a better system than I do It's funny, I used to keep in touch with folks from High School by letter. Used to put a lot into them. I think I still have every address book I've ever owned. I won't throw one out, and the oldest one probably doesn't have a valid address or phone number in it. Actually, I could throw that one out. I think I copied it into the next one anyway. The only reason I think I keep it is because I've kept it so long

In this case the gals are guys.

In reference to hoarding of cards and addresses, in the old days and up till I turned over management I kept a wire bound notebook with me at all times. I made notes when I was meeting with clients, when I was on the phone, meeting with subs, etc. I wrote everything down. When I would fill a notebook, I didn't throw it away, I put it in a drawer in my desk with ones previous. I can't tell you how many times somebody called on me for info from those notebooks.

I also had cards from years of collecting. 100's of them.

When I moved out of my office I sat there and looked at those binders for a long time. I started thumbing through them and looking at the names and numbers and noticed a theme. Hell, after 45 years half these people are dead. I put the binders and cards on a 2 wheel dolly and headed for the dumpster.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Guys and Gals

Re: Christmas Cards

I have all those binders from the business, too. I figure libraries don''t throw out old books and these are my reference library. But, references get outdated. I'd have to sit down, flip through, and consolidate what is still good info into one. Yeah sure, right. I'll have that done by noon, priority #1!

I think what I am going to do is, just like Santa, make a list of contact info with board members. If you're not on there it means I don't like you. J/K! Seriously, it's not just for a card mailing list. I have thought about this often. There have been some great people here on the site who I felt were friends that I don't see posting here any more. I've meant to send PMs to exchange info and keep a list. I think a thread like this could work. Exchange the info through PM. We worry we'll leave someone out and this thread would invite people to offer up their info with being individually asked.
I'd like to one day be able to hop in my '67 GMC and take the 2-lanes (where I can) around the nation, stopping in on my truck buddies. Can't stop in on a user name and avatar
