When someone put your headers on the extra bracket was removed,There should be two other bolts holding it and it should move to get your belt tight.

Re: How do I tighten power steering belt?

I'll take a guess and say the PO pushed the pump all the way to the inside of the adjustment and then found a belt that they could squeeze on there. that's why ya can't move it. you are missing a piece. I bet it wrapped around and bolted to the exhaust manifold. My 70 is a big blk so wait for Jims pics.

Thumbs up Re: How do I tighten power steering belt?

Look up under the pump. There should be a bolt that connects it to the brace on the front side that since they didn't use the other brace they tightened the crap out of it. Loosen it and the whole pump should move away from the water pump.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: How do I tighten power steering belt?

Hi, look under the 1973-87 pickups, message board , find "restoring rusty" by "Gregski" on pg. 58 of his thread, he has pics of exactly what you have and the piece you are missing, it is the piece that bolts to the end hole of the exhaust manifold, someone removed it when they installed headers, you will have to fabricate a new piece, good luck
