Re: '63 c10 drag build

Probably will anyways,,, but, just be aware because you have altered the firewall, you will need a full SFI certified cage, SFI window net, SFI firesuit, clutch / flexplate / bellhousing shield, Trans shield / blanket (or SFI case trans),, Might as well make it light enough to run 8.50,, your going to have to have all the safety equipment to be there anyways.

Thanks man yeah I picked up the rule book I've been having trouble understanding the language of it. Like where certain bars need to be for an altered firewall.

Re: '63 c10 drag build

Yea I checked them out --- very nice!

Your build is looking good, is it going to be track ready this year you think? I suspect you will be coming to SAC raceway or is there a place up in Chico area to run?

Re: '63 c10 drag build

Did you weld that on?
Reason I'm asking I posted a thread about a weld in back half. Going to go 4 link with narrowed 9"

Did you box where the back half is located and welded it to the box portion?

Also what size tire and backspacing are you going with ?

I'm looking at running some 15x14 prostars but no idea what BS I want to run

Re: '63 c10 drag build

Yeah welded in its a back half for a camaro so the frame sizes are different so it's boxed and coped around the back half.
Weld 15x14 3.5" bs
The axle housing end to end is 34"

Re: '63 c10 drag build

I was thinking a 7.5" B.s. for mine to keep strain off the rear end. Do you think that will be ok to run?

I finally found a decent video of a backhalf install on a s10 yesterday. I may just take mine somewhere and have it installed. I was going to box the stock frame behind the cab then see what we can do as far as welding it in. What's your thoughts on this?

Re: '63 c10 drag build

I ran a 12" wide wheel with 7.5" back space for years. I only recently went to a 12" with 4.5" bs when we built this rear. Ironically when I decided to go to the 32x14 my old 12" / 7.5 bs put the bigger tire exactly where it needed to be. Only thing is I wish it were a 14" wheel.

Re: '63 c10 drag build

Ah ok. See I didn't know if 7.5 would be ok.

My 15x10 prostars had a 4.5" bs. And with 325/60/15 drag radials I ended up rolling my fenders but had no issues other than that. I couldn't go wider because of my leaf springs and stock wheel tubs.

Re: '63 c10 drag build

Thanks for the pics. Looks badass! I think I'm going to start a thread on welded back half and get some ideas. If we can do it at my friends shop I would rather do it their than a chassis shop 3 hours upstate Ms
