Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
Ok so i decided to start a build thread on here im one of very few long island classic c10 owners, that i know of at least, you dont see them around here very often so i decided to build one to be a little different up here. First task was to find the truck. Looked high and low locally and all i could find was run down rusted out trucks which were a little too far gone for my taste and metel work talent level so i started searching down south, texas to be exact. I found exactly what i was looking for in san antonio. Clean running and driving complete truck in the price range i was looking for! A few phone calls later i was on a flight down to texas, working for an airline helped with this lol. Met the owner and had a transporter there within an hour of buying the truck and back on a flight home same day.
Ok thats a little back story now to figure out how to post pictures lol be back soon |

looks like an iPhone, make sure the home button is always on the right. And yeah, sometimes it only likes to load one picture at a time

Re: Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
plans were to originally keep the 250 l6 and toss a 5 speed behind it with a level 3 drop porterbuilt front and rear. I got bored of the 250 l6 before I even drove it and just picked up a 6.0 lq4 this morning and ordered a built 4l60e. I also decided to go with a choppin block back half instead of the porterbuilt for a few of my own reasons. either way the truck will lay frame on 22' transport wheels with a turbo 6.0 lq4 and 4l60e

Re: Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
My goal is to have it back together running and driving 6 months from when i got it which was labor day weekend, basicly back together by the spring to cruise for the summer then finish up cosmetic exterior and interior next fall. I will most likely keep it natuarally aspirated this year and make the turbo kit next winters project

Re: Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
Any reason to running a 4L60 when you plan on a turbo LS? Not a 4L80 or manual?
(I don't know anything, so it's a straight up question)

Re: Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
Im not going to run the 4l80 simply because of space under the truck, and having good experiance with the 4l60e in the past on 3 other turbo ls cars. If built right with the right parts the 4l60 has no issue holding the power im looking to put through it. Im not "racing" it and not throwing slicks on it either. The 4l80 is a great trans but overkill and oversized for what i need

Re: Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
Looking good and the plans sound nice! Looks like a great foundation to start with. Guessing with the aftermarket cross-member going in you're planning on running this pretty low to the ground?

Re: Redxbob's 66 c10 swb build thread
Check out Imgur. That's what I use to post all of my pictures. Make sure you use the Large thumbnail or the picture will be huge.
I like what you're doing so far. Definitely in for this build.
