power rack

Before I go any further with my build, is a power rack and pinion worth the added expense? Is the handling that much better?

Re: power rack

The steering is more precise and it tends to wander less.

Re: power rack

I know there are full kits out there with a new crossmember and a new rack but does anyone sell something to retrofit our own rack onto the truck?

Re: power rack

Unisteer makes a bolt in power rack setup, that requires NO welding at all. Very simple to install.

I also happen to have one for sale here...

Re: power rack

I have been reading this thread researching R&P for my 72. Looks like unisteer and LMC are selling the same bolt on kit for around $1650. Even use the same picture. Looks pretty good if you have a couple of grand to spend.

Re: power rack

Summit has this same kit, I think it is from unisteer, for even less. Guess I'll keep looking as the price keeps getting better. Would really like to have a R&P for my 72!!!!

Re: power rack

Anyone know if there are any good swaps / donor vehicles out there, to get a used unit out of? Are they easy to check to make sure a used unit would be safe? I've never installed a rack set up but am also thinking about it if there is a good way to do it for about half the price.

Re: power rack

I've found several vehicles that I think would be good donors but does anyone know where we can find just the mounting bracket?

Re: power rack

I'm interested in the unisteer rack in this post. How did it work out for you. Has it held up for you. Any follow up would be great. I know the thread is sort of old but hoping someone has some info. Thanks
