67 C20 8 lug to C10 5 lug
Can anyone help me out. I have a 67 C20 with the 8 lug coil spring rear end. I want to convert it to 5 lug & keep the coil springs. I also plan to lower the truck 2.5" in front & 4" in the rear. I was hoping to use a rear end that can bolt directly into the truck. I also want to avoid having to relocate the shock mounts & spring mounts. Is this something that can be done, or is it a pipe dream?

Re: 67 C20 8 lug to C10 5 lug
I had the same scenario with our 68 and went with a early 12 bolt truck rear end, Yukon 5 lug axles, Eaton posi w/ 3.42 gears and new ring & pinion.
I wanted a lower highway rpm and a low 1st gear so went w/the 700r4 transmission to achieve both. At the end of the day it really depends on what your goals are and that'll decide how you get there. |

Sounds good. Thank you for the info. Now I just need to find the rear end that will bolt up to the truck.

71&72 half ton truck rear ends have 5 lug axles and should be a bolt in on the coil spring rear.
