SMS Fabrics /Oregon question
Is SMS Fabrics in Oregon the ONLY supplier for the correct replacement seat cover upholstery for my 68th Anniversary Gold/ white truck? I've read a lot of reviews and have seen more negative than positive, but mainly in the customer relations/ service area. Would like to know if there is another vendor out there w/ the correct material.
Any help would be great. I'm trying to get the seat done for my son before he graduates in early May.

Re: SMS Fabrics /Oregon question
Get a hold of board vendior Truck Seats. He has over the years sold lots of seat covers ( me included ) to board members and I've never heard a bad word about him or his products. The link is for one of his threads.

Re: SMS Fabrics /Oregon question
I used SMS for my 67 whole interior. Absolutely great product but slow If you are using them to make your covers. If just supplying material they are pretty good.

I also got the materials from SMS and used a local upholstery shop to make the covers and install them. About $350 to make and install. The delay on delivery (about 2 months) was due to having the original scroll work done on the parchment vinyl. Other than that, I found them very easy to work with.

Re: SMS Fabrics /Oregon question
I used them, but I was able to walk in with my cover for comparison. They sent incorrect Chevy scrolling for my 69 GMC seat. The match was 100% dead in in color etc. they fixed it, but took a couple weeks.
If you are having your covers made, order enough vinyl material to have the bead/edge made without a break. I did not do this and I have a break in the edge/bead that goes right under the back of your knees. Not sure what to call this. Your upholsterer will make the bead/edge by sewing the vinyl over a round plastic piece. You can measure the edge bead from back to front and over to the passenger side. This is how many yards you need to have this one continuos piece. If a break in the edge is not an issue, you can save by ordering one less yard. |
