Low-Buck Base setup
Good morning truck audiophiles. I just replaced the head unit in my '08 Crew Cab with a Kenwood DDX372BT:
Kenwood Head Unit I replaced the front door speakers and tweeters with Alpine SPS-610C's: Front Doors and Tweeters And the rear door speakers with Polk DB651S's: Rear Doors I'm powering the speakers directly from the head unit. I'd like to fill out the low end that I'm currently missing, but don't want to spend a ton. When I took this question to the local car audio shop, their recommendation was a $650 setup. I'm looking to get by for less than $200. I'm thinking about this setup under the rear seat: P300-10 Can anybody point me in the right direction for a separate 10" Sub, amp, and enclosure that would beat the sound quality of this Rockford Fosgate setup without being TOO much more expensive?

Re: Low-Buck Base setup
$200 is not a lot, but you still have options for a nice setup using some quality components. For example, you can get a sub like this:
10" http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com...subwoofer.html 12" http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com...subwoofer.html and power it with something like this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...e-R500X1D.html or (if you don't mind manufacturer refurbished) http://www.bostonacoustics.com/US/Pr...onAcoustics%29 Wire either amp to a 2 Ohm load for around 400-500W of power. I would recommend you build your own box because you can have something built to the specs of the subwoofer and it will probably cost you $30 of materials. An 8 gauge wiring kit (50 A fuse) will set you back about another $20. That will put you right around $250 for everything. |

Re: Low-Buck Base setup
That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. Thanks. Do you have personal experience with any of those products?

This sub... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...nce-1060W.html with this amp... http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...PI-P600.2.html will have you sounding equal or better for a fraction of the price. You should have enough left over to either buy the materials and build your own box or buy a cheap ebay prefab box and add some glue to it. I installed two of the 12" version of those Infinities into by friends Charger and he was blown away by the price/performance ratio.
