New guy here "66 4x4 sort of

Hey guys, new to the forum but not forums. I just purchased a 1966 4X4 C10.
Yes I know. The first letter of my serial number is C not K. Thats ok the build appears to be done well. It is a 292 4 speed. This is a very solid truck. Cab, bed, frame, and driveline in very nice condition. My question for youall is about the transfer case. It only has hi (all the way up) and low (all the way back). Any idea what unit this is? Part or model numbers? Years in production?
any and all useful information is greatly appreciated.

if it's original I think it's a Rockwell T-221 I'm sure the experts will chime in.

Oh BTW welcome to the site and we need to see pixs, cause we all lik'em.. My truck is a 64 on a 70 4x4 frame and running with a 292 and 4 spd to...

Welcome to the sickness! Not sure what you mean by "constant supply" but one identifying feature of the 221 is that the rear output is in line with the front output with the input shaft located above both of them. Most modern TCs have the rear output inline with the input shaft. Pics would be great when you get a chance to post!

By constant supply I mean the front driveshaft turns when ever the truck is moving. No four wheel high, four wheel low, two wheel high.

Thanks for the reply. The thread shows 2 Wheel Dr. all the way towards the dash. In this position when I disengage the clutch the driveshaft going to the front differential turns.

Maybe you are in (4 wd hi)? not all the way forward?

You both were right. This morning I jacked up all 4 corners and ran the truck in all 3 positions, with and without the front axles engaged. I had to use a pry bar to get 4 wd disengaged. Adjusted the linkage and now I have 4 distinct positions. I imagine I never got it to shift out of 4 hi after I tested it. This truck has sat in a garage for the last 7 years, only driven in nice weather.
Thanks to all who replied, you made troubleshooting this proble easier. Now on to the electrical system.
