1960 Grille Question (Headlight Assem)

On a 1960 grille, there is a vertical adjustment screw and a horizontal adjustment screw for each headlight. Also, in the lower 'inboard' corner of each light, there is a hooked spring. What does that spring attach to? I thought it was for the small hole on the outer ring (that holds the headlight) but seems you would need to be a circus performer to make that work...

Looked in the factory assembly manual but unable to see any picture how the assembly is constructed... would anyone have a picture that shows how it is assembled?

the headlight has the chrome ring that holds the bulb to the metal back, this whole unit is assembled together with 3 small screws. disassemble this unit. hook the chrome part into the spring, the metal back should already be placed into the adjusters, put the bulb in, and then screw the chrome ring onto the back.
