6 Lug 3 Nub 15 inch steel wheels

I have decided that it would be in my best interest to put disc brakes on the front of my 68 while I am in the process of rebuilding the front end.

My problem lies in that I currently have stock 15 inch steel wheels with the 3 nub configuration that I need to use so I can run my original dog dish hub caps.

I have done some searching and from what I have found, the stock steel wheels don't have the right taper to run discs. Correct????

Does anyone make a 15 inch, 6 lug, 3 nub steel wheel that will clear the calipers on disc brakes? I need to stay with 15's to match all around and I already have the tires, so upsizing isn't an option.

Thanks

Old thread on what to look for and maybe as one member suggested, a 5/16 spacer on the original wheel.

Look for 4 nub steel wheels, they clear disc brake calipers.

I read that the spacers MIGHT work...

If I remember correctly, the 87 wheels had 4 nubs. I need a 3 nub wheel.

YOU need 4 nub wheels to clear disc brake calipers. YOUR hubcap will work on a 4-nub wheel. MANY on here have done this.
Look for 1971-87 steel wheels that came on 4x4 trucks, burbs and blazers.

You need 6 lug 4 nub. Disk brake wheels . they will take your stock hubcaps and no need for you to run spacers

Re: 6 Lug 3 Nub 15 inch steel wheels

Just to confirm... these hubcaps

will fit on a 4 nub rim?????

I was pretty sure that I read several times on here that they wouldn't.

Yup. I wanted some on my '69 but there's no way I'm paying the going rate for those things. The rally's will be just fine at that price.

Maybe go wheel vintiques? I'm fairly certain the smoothie will accept the dog dish caps.

Re: 6 Lug 3 Nub 15 inch steel wheels

The wheel Vintiques 5 lug will accept caps, I have heard the six lug do not, hence the high price for 15x8 OEM 6 lugs

Re: 6 Lug 3 Nub 15 inch steel wheels

That's just greed on that Ebay listing. The actual going price is $100 ea, not bad for a cool set of wheels. You can even find them cheaper, but in the hands of an old GM Truck guy they are $400 a set all day long. Stock width are worth about $25 ea/$100 set. No smoothies accept factory hubcaps. They have a small inner nub on a smaller circle to accept car rallye wheel type center caps...and a few select reproduction car hubcaps made to fit. Wheel Vintiques started making 5-lug OEM style wheels but no 6-lug so far.

I definitely don't need the 8's. I only need 2, and 6's would work just fine. I am doing a 15x14 on the back and they already have the 6 lug 3 nub centers installed.

Sounds like my neighbor. He's a 47-72 Chevy Truck "expert" who never learns a thing and continues to eff up everything he touches. He wants too much for one thing and not enough for the other. He throws away parts that sell well. Worst thing he does is cuts vehicles up to make yard art he and only he enjoys. All he knows is double whatever he pays for a vehicle or he parts it out (even when he paid too much). He parts most out, but there are bigger dummies than him out there that find him.

You just need to get two 4 nub rims.

6" wide ones are easy to find but 8" wide ones are tough.
