Re: 62/63 spindles

ball joint and tie rod taper sizes,... since the 60-62 were designed for the torsion bar front suspension a-arms.

Re: 62/63 spindles

How about the brake shoe anchor bolt? I just got a disc brake kit for my 63. The hold down bolt at the top of the spindle for the anchor is 5/8 fine. The bolt with the kit is 3/4 fine
Top hole

Brake "shoe" anchor bolt?
On a disc brake spindle?
I'm not following you.

Re: 62/63 spindles

I believe he bought the kit to convert a stock '63-'70 spindle to disc brakes. It comes with a bolt on caliper bracket that utilized the top brake anchor pin hole and one of the lower steering arm bolts.

For some reason I had no picture on my phone.
I see that now.
Doesn't that kit make you switch to chevelle rotors with the 5x4.75 bolt pattern?

yes, it seems my spindle is an oddball, nothing a sleeve and a bolt can't fix

Most spindle manufacturers (Belltech, McGaughy's, Western Chassis, CPP, and ECE) all sell a disc brake specific spindle that will work with the 60-62 ball joints and outer tie rod.
These use 71-87 HD 5x5 rotors and calipers, like the 63-70, 71-72, and 73-87 trucks use.
To me,... this is a better option than converting to 5x4.75" bolt pattern with the stock drum brake spindle.
