Exhaust manifold?

Got a deal on exhaust manifolds. They are used, but they look like new so I plan on replacing both of my old ones.

Question 1. What should I paint them with to keep the rust to a minimum?

Question 2. What do ya'll think about using brass studs on the collector. And if it's a good idea, where could I get some?

I used high heat manifold paint from NAPA. Flat back.

I need to get some pics of the project here soon. I like the way it looks and it holds up well as I've done it in other trucks. I think it looks good, especially if you engine is the old boring chevy orange.

Brass studs...NO... Brass nuts...yes

Take a good hard look at the studs before you install them...more than likely they need to be replaced. It is much easier to do in a bench vice than under the truck. If you have a torch you might get some of them out without drilling. If you don't have a torch, there is no chance in he!! of getting them out without drilling. If you grind them off and center punch them perfect you can drill them out without hurting the original threads....you can use heli-coils on the ones you do screw up...lol Any parts store that carries the "HELP" section will have the studs with the brass nuts.

performance coating

If you've got about $200, look in to ceramic plating or "cermacrhome". Good to 1100 degrees. Made my ram hours look like chrome. And the brass nuts are an excellent idea.
