how to find my old '64 ?
does anyone know how to track down a truck they used to own? I had a '64 longbed as my first truck , I had bought it from my dad when I turned 16,in 1974,my parents bought it in 1968,from the chevy dealer,It was red with a white cab, I bought it and had it painted '73 corvette blue, had it for a couple of years, then sold it to buy a '72 chev.stepside shortbed, would love to find it and buy it back, all I remember is the license plate number, any help in how to track it down would be appreciated

Re: how to find my old '64 ?
If you have friends in your police dept. They might be able to do a search using the VIN. Plates will have changed. Not sure about your MVD though as it might be considered stalking or something else. I'm going to check with Clarkdale , Az police to see if I can find any info about where my Suburban was purchased originally. Good luck and keep us posted

Re: how to find my old '64 ?
Yeah DMV would be a long shot these days. I'd say a cop friend might (and thats a stretch still) be able to help. Check out the thread by member "Lost My 65" about his search to find his truck. Pretty sure he looked for it for a few years before finding it. Wish I could find the '57 Napco utility truck that I sold 27 years ago. Not a day goes by without thinking about that truck at least once. Good luck!

Good luck. It's not easy obviously since the owner of Papa Johns Pizza offered a $25,000 reward to anyone who could just find his old Camaro that he sold to start his business.
Here's the story: http://ir.papajohns.com/releasedetai...leaseid=404954

Re: how to find my old '64 ?
I wonder if you ran a car fax report on one if it would give some clues of where it might be. You would need the vin number to do it.

Re: how to find my old '64 ?
CALIF DMV wont tell you much of any thing ..they MIGHT tell you if that plate still exists and is currently tagged that's about it .... Some private investigators have access to DMV records try that route (after you ask DMV NOT much use if the plate dont show up and you dont have a VIN)

Re: how to find my old '64 ?
There's not much you can do without a VIN and even then, only certain state DMV's will give you any info since you're not the owner of the vehicle. The other thing is that most states don't keep track of a vehicle once it leaves the state. So even if a state tells you the vehicle was registered until 1990, the DMV would have no idea if the vehicle left the state or if the vehicle was just parked and never driven again.

Re: how to find my old '64 ?
Ha!
:-) . Actually, Someone in these forums recommended I hire a private investigator. At the time I thought that to be a little weird. But then later I googled 'private investigator find lost vehicle oregon'. A Private Investigator in Beaverton, Oregon came up as one of the hits. She had on her site that she can find lost vehicles and she accepted PayPal. :-) So I sent her an email that I had an old pic with the license plate. She replied for me to email her the Plate number and send her $50 through Paypal. About 10 mins later she emailed me the name and address of the current owner. I googled the address and with the help of those in these forums, we were able to zoom in and determine it was an old 60's chevy in the driveway. Well, the rest is in my thread.
