Cup holders instead of seat belt holders
I've seen console reproductions with cup holders, but I'm wondering if my original console can accommodate cupholders instead of the belt holders. Someone on another thread said it was 2 screws, so that doesn't sound like it would be the whole top half.
What part of the console changes, and how invasive is it, and where do I get the cupholder part? Thanks in advance for any info! I'm sure I'll make a lot more use out of cupholders than selt belt holders, especially since I have 3-pt retractables now.

Re: Cup holders instead of seat belt holders
I've got a couple consoles of each type, but they're about 2000 miles away, so I can't compare them side by side.
If I recall correctly, the seat belt portion of the early consoles is integral (molded into) the top portion of the console. The cup holder portion of the later consoles is removable and held in place by 2 or 4 screws. You MAY be able to surgically remove the seat belt portion and add the cup holder portion, but I think some additional fabrication may be necessary to support the cup holder portion. Since the hinged tops and chrome trim rings are the same size, it's reasonable to assume the front section housing the cup holders would be the same size as the seat belt section. I've seen billet cup holders to replace the factory cup holders, but I think you'd need to buy the factory cup holder section used. Maybe someone would trade top sections with you. I know I would. EDIT: Here's a link to a parts thread that has pictures of both types for comparison. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...hlight=console Also... the cup holder consoles use a different hinge for the lid. Re: Cup holders instead of seat belt holders
the console in my trk has cup holders. it sits in there with a couple screws. bad news is ya got to take the chrome strip off, which is doable but a little tricky. maybe the older consoles are one piece. All the blazer guys have these consoles. maybe check on the blazer forum.

Re: Cup holders instead of seat belt holders
This is a link to mine. I put the new billet cup holder in mine.
Taking the trim off wasn't so bad with a good peir of needle nose. Twist the tabs and it pops off. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=648379

Re: Cup holders instead of seat belt holders
Dave, this would look good in your truck. It's on forum member t korinek's Craigslist ad in Phoenix. I wonder if it's still available.
