How much material used in sound deadening.

I have been planning my sound and heat barrier install. I see Eastwood has a new X mat Sound deadening kit. How much in Sq Ft has anyone used in there standard cab ?
This kit that Eastwood is offering on sale.

The price isn't hateful at $99.99. But how much do I really need, to do the floor and back of the inside Cab?

I would say about 2 of those would work, I bought a 100ft roll that was 36 inches wide of FatMat and only used about half of that. I did the floor and behind that cab.

I use this stuff. 50 sq feet will do a pickup cab easily with some left over, and it's reasonably priced.

I HIGHLY suggest lining the outer skin of the door (inside obviously), it makes a huge difference as well and when the door closes, provides a nice thud (like a new car) versus a rattling clang.

Jeff is spot on with this. It aint no easy task getting it in there, but its night and day difference. We did the inner doors on my 77, and its night and day difference when you tap the door vs the front fender.

I used a little more than 50 sq feet to line my whole floor and the inside of the doors, makes quite the difference like mentioned.

Do these products have an adhesive already, or do you have to use an aerosol adhesive, tape, etc.?

I can't speak for all brands, but I used DynaMat and it was a peel-off style of sound deadener. Haven't bought some (or a similar product) in some time, so it may have changed.

I was really happy with this stuff. Order both ensolite (foam) and BXTII (typical deadener).

You will be amazed how well each one does its specific job.

Yup, and I'll do the roof as well if it's covered with headliner. Amazing the difference in sound when it rains.
I'll run up under the dash as high as I can get it on the firewall, doors, etc...

The GT mat I linked to above does. I use this stuff all the time for customer cars and everyone likes it, no complaints. It's inexpensive compared to most and works fine for me. I've used Dynamat and like that as well but it costs $400-$500 to do a whole car. I'm doing a whole car with 2 of the 50 sq ft rolls of GT mat for $177.

My father has experience with stuff called Lizard Skin that they use on government jobs at work and they like it. It's a spray in stuff so it's easy to get that back into tight spaces, cracks and crevices using a gun with a wand. I've wanted to experiment with that but haven't yet.

I have sprayed my cab floor with bed-liner which I believe is similar to Lizard Skin. My intention for that was more to help seal all the welded in patch panels in my floor, but I would like to use one of these mat-type sound deadener products as well. Anybody tried that and will it stick well to a textured surface? -- Sorry if this is hi-jacking the OP's intent for this thread.

It'll stick to anything as long as it's clean. It's a one shot deal too, make sure it's positioned the way you want because once it's on there it ain't coming back off, lol
