transmission issue

My 92 Chevrolet Cheyenne 1500/5.7 is shifting through all the gears before hitting 35 mph. If I get in it a little bit it shifts fine. Any suggestions?

Re: transmission issue

Bad vacuum module maybe? Not sure your tranny has one. Is it a 4L60?

Re: transmission issue

Probably has a 700r. Sounds like the tv cable needs to be adjusted. Does it go into overdrive by 35?

Re: transmission issue

If its a TV cable issue, make sure its adjusted just right.. You can trash your tranny if its not adjusted right.

Re: transmission issue

It should hit 2nd gear in the middle of the intersection ( when light turns green).. Boy,.... nearly impossible to explain how to reach behind the cable bracket on intake manifold, "click" the lock loose, slide the cable jacket - to adjust cable... ( mounted on bracket)...

The cable sets the transmission pressure. ....Too low, and the transmission pressure is set to 30MPH, when you are driving 60MPH... You can overheat it.

A good transmission shop should be able to adjust the TV cable in a minute .

Again, at "normal throttle", second will shift in middle of street, on acceleration from a stop sign.
