welders
I was wondering what kind of welders you guys use for your body work. I have a Lincoln pro 100. Also what mixtures of carbon dioxide and argon you use for shielding gas. thanks

I use a millermatic 185. I like the blended gas argon/co2/helium I think. Praxair calls it Stargon. It seems a lot cleaner to me than the co2. Just remember, small welds. A thousand little spot welds spaced apart beats the pants off of alot fewer 3/4" long welds, as far as minimizing warpage.

Ditto on the Millermatic 185 and the gas. Very good all around welder. You can do everything from spring perches to cab corners.

I got a Millermatic 175 for my b-day a few months back with the cart, auto dimming helmet and an 80lb cylinder. I am using the C25 mix, 25% co2 and 75% argon at about 12/15 psi. After a little practice I find it easy to make excelent welds. I have used the Lincoln 100 at work with flux core wire and was very frustrated. I dont know if the 175 is a great welder but it is a dream to use compared to the 115v 100 amp. Was well worth the trouble of installing the 230v circuit IMHO.

I have a Lincoln SPT100 and so far it's working out real good for me. Using a CO2/Argon (25/75...I think that pretty much Industry standard). I don't do a lot of welding and it is mostly sheet metal so the 110 welder not a problem at this time. I'm sure I'll get a bigger one down the line as I start doing this stuff more.

My Millermatic 175 is one week old today. I bought the 25/75 CO2/Argon mix, wired a 220v outlet, and completed my first project last night.
Best tool I've bought in a LONG time.
