Installing door edge guards, 69 c10

I have a set of factory door edge guards that I plan on installing on my truck in the near future, but have no idea what I should use to keep em on the door (adhesive?) What do you guys recommend?

I don't think adhesive is required. I scratched the crap out of my paint installing them on one of my trucks. Be sure you want to do it before you attempt to put them on.

They are a press/squeeze fit, no adhesive. I was too scared of chipping my new paint to install my originals. I mocked them up with mylar tape, decided it wasn't that important, and ultimately did not use them.

I put a set of these on my '71 Cheyenne Super, no problems in installation. If you have the upper trim, remove the trim before installing, the trim goes over the door edge guard. Heavy paint buildup will make it a little difficult to install. The guards are press fit, just use a rubber mallet to tap into place. I didn't scratch the paint on my doors, just take your time.

They clip on, but as stated they will scratch up your paint in the process. I left them off my truck after restoration.

Maybe it's like this:

- if you have what's left of a 70s thin lacquer factory paint job, you should be OK
- if you have 3 coats of base followed by 5 coats of clear, you're gonna chip it
- if you're somewhere in between you run the risk

And I can't even guarantee any of them!
