Electric Windows

Has anyone installed electric windows? I'm sure they have. How did you attach the electric assembly to the inside of the door? I'm trying not to drill holes outside the inner door panel cover.

Are you looking at that particular setup or asking for suggestions? If it's the later I'd recommend Nu-relics as their kit is 100% bolt in with no modifications beside running a wire. I have them and the motors are plenty powerful. Not as cheap as those but worth the extra dollars to me being American made and bolt on.

Thanks. Looks great. By now the cost wont be that far out of line of what I'm doing for this truck anyway.

On the 'crank switch', are you able to control the passenger window with it as well?

Not from out the box. I've been talking to my wiring guy who assures me it can be done with switches and relays. I'm planing on using an old stock switch from the dash to select driver or passenger side. I don't want to see a toggle. It's going to get done soon so I'll update this post at that time.

I also vote for the Nu-Relics set up. I went with a universal set up like the one you posted and while it works fine it was a pain in the A$$ to install and look decent. The window tracks are designed to bolt direct to the door which would be fine if you had a full size door panel such as on a 73 C-10. I didn't want to have screws showing below the door panel so I made a mounting plate out of 3/16" aluminum, screwed the Power Window track to that then bolted the aluminum plate to the door where it would be covered by our Small Door Panel. I ended up making standoffs or spacers out of nylon stock to get the power window mechanism to line up with the factory window tracks. It was a LOT of work with a LOT of aggravation. On top of that I knocked out the support that was holding the window up as I was maneuvering the Power Window system in place breaking the drivers window. I only paid a little over $100.00 for the kit with Power Window Motors, Tracks, Wiring Harness & Switches but was it worth it NO!!!!! Oh, you will need to remove the front fenders to drill your holes in the door opening & door for your wiring conduits. The front bumper can stay on the truck but the cowl panels will need to come off. Be sure to tape up the bumper, door & fender edges, so you don't scratch them when removing & installing your fenders. Use SEVERAL layers of tape where you will be drilling on the door edge in case the drill chuck hits it. Better safe than sorry. As you can see I had a little blood loss - I healed your truck won't! I drilled BIG holes for my conduits because I used a Factory Power Window & Door Lock wiring harness from an 76 C-10 and needed to pass the factory wiring connectors through them. That little white nub you see in the 3rd picture with the installed conduit? That's the door jamb switch for the courtesy lights - I added foot well lights from the same donor 76 Truck I figured as long as I was drilling holes & running wiring I may as well have courtesy lights come on when I open the doors.

I just ordered my switches from nu-relics, the diagram posted is out dated, they no longer do the toggle switch, they have a standard GM flip type window control that you hide somewhere that is accessible to the driver to control the window, its basically a third switch.

Does Nu Relics use part numbers for anything? I cant seem to find anything that way.

I can find a std. elect window setup for the 55-59 series trucks, but Im looking for a 'one-piece' glass elect window setup by them.

found it on ebay but no P/N to reference with a crazy price.

I ordered my kit from them, older couple they are very nice on the phone, it is supposed to be all American made. I will receive the kit Monday I believe! once I inspect I will post back!
I have learned from other builds ....DON'T cheap out on window kits, the crappy ones are miserable to deal with!

I received the power window kit yesterday, the glass is still in transit.
After unboxing the kit what I have seen so far....
The channels are very sturdy, the wiring is heavy gauge, probably heavier that necessary, everything is marked "Made in the USA.
The build quality looks very nice and items look to be well built. I cannot attest to the finish yet but I will post back soon!

My windows arrived from classic truck glass. They too are very nice, the lower tracks are pre fastened to the glass. So far I am VERY pleased with the quality of the kit!

That is the Kit I bought! I will take the glass home and check the fit today, but it is supposed to be the 1 piece window kit for 1961!

I brought the glass home today and checked the fit, they are perfect. I have not installed the kit yet but the glass is dead on , I can't wait to see it installed

Good to hear. I see they don't have them for the 64 C10.
