Seat Foam

I am fixing to replace the seat foam for my bench seat in my 70 c10. The seat that is in it is a "spring core" seat, thin layer of foam on springs. I'm having trouble finding replacement foam for this style of seat. Most replacement foam I've found says "full foam". Also I read that the "full foam" and the "spring core" cushions will not interchange on the seat frame. Could ya'll please give me some info? Thanks in advance.

Re: Seat Foam

I am interested as well. Can you tell the difference between the 2 different seats with the seatcover still on?

Re: Seat Foam

Go to your local auto upholstery shop and have it replaced or a local foam and fabric store were you can buy a medium density sheet of foam and replace it your self for less than $20.00 . These aftermarket foams sold for replacement are extremely over priced In my opinion .

Re: Seat Foam

Do you have a way to post a photo of your springs/seat frame?

This was a post I did way back when - maybe it will help..

Props again to Jeff Lilley Customs in Texas for the original idea... it wasn't my idea I just followed his advice - though he doesn't give detailed steps just the general idea that foam can be shaped...

Re: Seat Foam

Gromit's seat is the full foam seat.

The spring seat has probably no more than a 2" thickness of foam, maybe less? so a sheet of foam will work, but what density? Trial and error?

I'm shocked to see the price on the H/D foam tho, i went to a foam store a while back and the prices of foam were outrageous so i need to find better places to buy foam.

Re: Seat Foam

You can use this type foam to replace the factory foam on spring core seats ,On full foam seats you just repair the worn out/missing section with new foam glued in place and shaped with a scotch pad on an angle grinder .

What thickness medium density foam do you use?
