Center console build materials?
Going to start working on a center console for my truck. I have seen a lot of different materials used to actually make the console. Plan on having trans. shifter, air ride controls, cup holders and arm rest/storage in it.
I really don't want to use fiberglass. (no experience) I have seen wood being used, not opposed but was wondering why not metal? Still want the whole think upholstered. Is there any reason why I couldn't use metal to make the center console. Also open to other materials, just very inexperienced at this. |

Re: Center console build materials?
Use what your hands work with the best. I've seen a lot of them built out of high density fiber board that the sound system guys use for speaker boxes. Fiberglass and steel. I've seen a couple made out of plywood and covered with material to match the rest of the interior. In fact all but one steel one that was painted had upholstery material to match the rest of the interior.
