Removing bow tie from '69 hood

Any tips? I'm buffing the truck out and I also need to replace the blue plastic in it. I know it's got those retaining nuts on the back but it's inside the front support and there will be no way to tighten it back on if I just pry it off.

I've searched and found nothing, I could use some advice on this one. I also found when I removed my rear Chevrolet tailgate trim that I actually have a GMC tailgate. This is a frankentruck but it's rust free so I'm not complaining.

Re: Removing bow tie from '69 hood

Here's a recent thread that may help. I found it, along with a lot of others, by entering "hood emblem" in the "search this forum" box.

If you are successful in removing the blue bowtie from the pot metal bowtie you'll be more successful than I was. The metal tabs that hold the plastic in place usually break off.

Gracias. I guess removing the latch plate is the key.

I've done it several times over the years and always thought it was straight forward. I used a 1/4" drive ratchet with the proper size socket.

Cool, previous owner had this done already. I'm sure a pound of Bondo was used.
