72 axles in my 70 rear end
I was given a pair of 5 lug rear axels out of a 72'. I'm wondering if I can just pull the clips in my diff and pop them in my 70'? Anyone done this?

Re: 72 axels in my 70 rear end
Well it depends. Late '70 and on the axle shafts were 3/4" longer each side (1.5" total axle width). Early '70 and before were shorter. Since you have a '70, it could be either length depending on when it was built. You will have to measure your current shafts to see which ones you have. If the same length, then yes you could swap them. If yours are shorter, then no.

Re: 72 axels in my 70 rear end
The narrower rear end (early '70 and before) will measure 62.125" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface.
