This can't be right. Transfer case linkage.

Having my tcase rebuilt and I noticed the linkage when I removed it.

I added a pic and a quick video.

Video shows the play in the unit.

That is an original linkage, but appears to have a bolt welded to it. Probably welded at the wrong angle giving it the excess slop.

I saw one on the parts board a few weeks ago, you can check both areas, pickups and blazers, any four wheel drive linkage with a 205 will do, I'll keep my eye out for you also and I look through my stash.

I looked for an aftermarket unit and found something like this, but i have no idea about this 4wd stuff. I need to do some more research. Why does this piece have two levers?

Re: This can't be right. Transfer case linkage.

That's a picture of an aftermarket twin shift. From the factory they came with a shift plate that tied both rods together, with the twin shift, they work independently. This means you can have two wheel drive with the low option, meaning the shift pins are operating independently also.

OH, damn. Sounds like i could get myself into trouble with that. I would like to have a stock unit. Just need to keep looking around. Having a hard time using the search function or the right words.

No problem man, that's what these forums are for, that's what it's all about.
Like I said, I'll keep my eyes out for you, and also on the parts board too.

I appreciate it. Those twin sticks look pretty neat. Im watching videos on them now. I would NEVER need what they are capable of doing, but they look pretty cool.

If it were me, I would attempt to bend some round stock, then grind on the end to fit into the linkage / levers

That is what i was thinking.

The bolt that holds the shifter on the case appears to be a special bolt also.

Re: This can't be right. Transfer case linkage.

You mean this one? There's 2 different types of these also, one has the smaller thread, and one larger. straight shaft one is greasable. Now you're getting into different levers.

Re: This can't be right. Transfer case linkage.

To use a twin stick, you'd need to mod the shift rods.
I have the little linkage bit on a spare shifter. Lots of writeups on how out there.
The pivot bolts may still be available from folks who sell NOS parts. I'd google np205 pivot bolt. Or measure the OD of the bolt that's there (looks like .5") and get a bushing the same length as the shifter is wide at that spot. You may need to cut the bushing in half lengthways to get it over the threads.
For the linkage, why not gently break the weld on the shifter, cut the bolt to the right length and drill a cotter pin hole. Maybe gring the hex head down or hack it off and start fresh.
Looks like the number for the greaseable bolt is 14009313. I see them available for ~$3. A few keywords and seconds to search.

I didn't really know what it was called so I was having issues searching. Where are you finding them for $3.

Thanks for the info. I will probably be doing everything you said but I really like that twin shifter setup.

One cool thing about the twin stick is that, with some shift rail mods it will give you front wheel drive only as well. There are times when off roading when that does come in handy believe it or not. My 3100 is going to get a twin stick setup someday.
