Heard you like SPIDS

Here's mine. I don't know much about it other than it has been converted to a 1966 396, pretty basic 4x4. I put a Skyjacker 2.5 and 235/85R16 Duratracs on it, have had it out hunting in north Idaho the past few years. A lot of fun to take an old truck like this out hunting!

Attached is a link to another thread with some pics. FWIW, these pics show her a little better than she looks in real life, she has a few rust spots you can't see here. But not so bad really.

I don't see anything in my SPID that looks exciting but I did have one question. I think my truck was originally red and white, but I don't know whether it was red with just a white roof or red top and bottom with the white belt around the center (if that makes any sense). Anyway, thanks for looking.

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

Sorry to bump my own thread but I am still curious what exactly a 544 code 1972 is supposed to look like? It seems like I am supposed to have some kind of lower molding but not upper? Does that mean it was all red with just a white roof?

I'm no expert, and certainly not for a 1966, but it probably means two-tone, body color red and white top, and possibly white along the sides. You may have or had the paint separator molding under the rear window. I just punched 1966 into the browser.....Many seem to have a common theme.....Look at this beauty:

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

I believe he means it's got a 396 from a 66 in his 72. I believe 544 should be white roof red body.

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

what tyler said - white top over all red body. 5xx indicates a standard/conventional 2-tone (i.e. just roof is different), 4xx indicates deluxe two tone (i.e. white/red/white/red) for a 72.

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

The 544 code says standard 2-tone, white top. Otherwise you could tell it didn't have deluxe 2-tone because the required beltline (upper) moulding isn't listed and that only came standard on Cheyenne Supers.

Those are some good options on a 4wd truck, manual throttle and posi. It has the full foam seat option for comfort with lower trim and a white top for good looks.

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. It has a chrome front bumper on it now but maybe it was originally white? Seems like a base truck. That is how I like them!

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

So would have the dash been white or red? The glove box door is white but, I suppose, it might have been painted.

I am pretty sure the interior was originally red, you can see some red underneath the white paint where the radio knobs go. It looks to me like somebody did a quick down and dirty "restoration" about 15 years ago.

Re: Heard you like SPIDS

Interior metal surfaces should have been red from the factory.
