Maiden voyage... 40ft!

Just for kicks I guess. Got the truck running and tryed to drive it for the first time today and she went about 40 feet before my rear end pointed up. I know I know I'm impatient but I wanted to get a taste. I still need to measure my angles and tack/weld the perches. Hopefully you guys get a kick outta it.

The part that sucked was hauling my jack and tools to fix it. Lol oh ya btw the shifter hasn't come in yet for the 3 speed Saginaw so just first gear and a wrench for reverse!

40 ft is better than no ft. at all.

You sure it broke down? appears to have just paused to hike its leg at the fire hydrant...

Re: Maiden voyage... 40ft!

Congrats on the first drive, still waiting on mine. Hopefully next one will be a bit longer.

Well that is a first drive you will remember forever.

I used to live in a house in McGregor Tx that was across the street from a big building that had a 4 lane boulevard for a driveway that was probably 2 hundred yards long and a huge parking lot to the side and behind the building that was always empty on weekends and was perfect for first drives, test drives and burn outs.

Re: Maiden voyage... 40ft!

Congrats!! I remember my first drive, wend down the road about a mile and then back, could only go about 20mph from clutch issues but it still made it back under its own power!

It sure is a great feeling. So you drove it without the spring perches welded on?

Re: Maiden voyage... 40ft!

On the original Henry build I only made it about a mile before he died........the adjustment screw for the points loosened up.

On Henry 1.0 (SBC/ TH350 install) we made it about 6 blocks before he coughed and died due to incorrect timing.

Part of the experience.....

Ya when I bought the roller a Ford 9in was barely attached. I tightened them down and tried to get away with it. Lol I think I'm gonna buy new perches get everything on the truck and check my angles. Hard part is that I got so many choices on what to do with her. Haha. I think I'll drop block the back and see where she goes from there.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who opened their presents before Christmas lol. Besides bad tires I experienced first hand the horrible driver blind spot phew!

Re: Maiden voyage... 40ft!

I've pushed mine about three feet forward in my garage so you have me beat by 37 ft.
