Brake Line Set Recommendations 68 K10 Shortbed

Wondering if anyone had any recommendations on this front in terms of suppliers? Thanks, Dave.

Noticed Bob's sells them for the K10--would prefer to stay away from LMC Trucks if I can. Thanks in advance for any advice or sharing your experience with any particular vendor or product.

I sourced SS for a 69 LWB K10 GMC from Inline Tube. I would do it again.

Inline Tube has been nothing but slow and rude when I've had to deal with them. And if LMC sells their kits, they're not great. Once you're not running a 1/2 ton 2WD, nothing fits, and they have no interest in the "tiny market" of 3/4 ton trucks, etc.

I've used Right Stuff (getdiscbrakes.com) on my 72 K10 and my 67 Chevelle. Both kits fit well

Thanks everyone, as usual great input. I'm going with standard steel lines, just like working with them and have had good success over the years. I'll check with the companies mentioned and will advise back on the install.

As have I - I can never keep it straight, but it's Right Stuff is right, Inline is wrong. Now I have a way to remember...

SSBC doesn't really carry much for our trucks but for Camaros and Corvettes and similar, nice stuff.

I used inline tube also for a 69 k10 with disc brakes so I used all the parts for a 71-72 Didn't have any problems with any of it.

Dave,

Check with the Right Stuff Detailing. If they do not have yours, you can send them in and he will scan them into the CNC machine. On the long lines, you can bend them around a 5 gallon bucket. They used to give you a set for sending in your patterns when they did not have them.

Me too. I bought a complete SS kit for my 1972 GMC C15 from Inline Tube and am very happy with it.

Used the copper allow tubing and made my own. For whatever reason I must have gotten some bad kits from CPP (inline tube) and LMC. Stuff didn't fit right so I made my own.

Re: Brake Line Set Recommendations 68 K10 Shortbed

Thanks as well for your input. My main concern is with the long line front to rear as the rest look pretty sound. I might just fab my own for that section. Warmer weather coming, will report what the direction I go and post results.

Straight lines and the hardline on the axle are easiest to make with some store bought straight lines. Pretty easy. Check your local stores, they normally have several lengths of different diameter lines. Run 3/16"

Re: Brake Line Set Recommendations 68 K10 Shortbed

I've use inline tube for all my trucks - brake and fuel, never had return anything. Just read the description of the kits because some 67-72 years were plumbed differently. I know my 71 SWB 4x4 rear brake lines are different than 72 SWB 4x4. Research...

I just buy lines from the auto parts store pre-flared. There is so many sizes available I did not even have to cut and flare any lines. I use brake tube bending pliers, you can make tight or sweeping bends. I laid out my original lines and copied the bends and stuck new lines back in. Easy and fun!

On edit: I also worked my way up to the the master and took up slack in the brake line coiling under the dist block.
