Need 4L80E retrofit advice
It appears my newly rebuilt 200-4R bit the dust in some form today - both forward and reverse, so it could be converter issue or a pump issue or who knows what. But I think it's time for the big boy. I have 4.88s predicated on the overdrive, otherwise I'd probably go back to the factory TH400.
So, if I go 4L85E (or 4L80E), a couple of questions: a) What do you recommend for a TPS? I imagine the controllers are all all going to require it, unless some work on a MAP sensor. b) Any big "gotchas" on fitment? It's a TH400 truck originally, so high hump. Thanks! Dave

Mine went right in with no problems. I have the low hump. I love it. It's better than the 700-R4 I had before.

You won't be disappointed Dave. I can't comment on the install but I've got two of them in their oem homes and they both have well over 200,000 behind a 7.4 and an 8.1 without ever being rebuilt.
