Buckstop Bumpers?

Anyone here have a Buckstop on their squarebody? I contacted the company to ask if they could make one from my '78 but all I got in reply was they don't make one. Any idea what would have changed from '78 to "mid 80s" that would stop direct mounting one on a older truck?

Tactical Armor Group has a very similar bumper which I like as well but I prefer the proportions of the Buckstop.

Re: Buckstop Bumpers?

Will need to make a small adapter plate as the 81-87 frame ends are differant from73-80. but otherwise should work.. should be pretty simple really.
Now that i look at the pics.. i bet they just slide in and bolt in from the side..don't know if you would need to do anyrthing but drill some holes.at least thats all that i can see ,without looking behind the bumpers themselves.

Re: Buckstop Bumpers?

I ordered a front bumper from buckstop and rear bumper from tactical armor the same day on June 16th of last year. The front one I ordered is the BAJA MODEL with provisions for 4 rectangular 4" rigid lights, front hitch and winch mount. Powder coated hammer-tone black. I was told 6-8 weeks for delivery. I got it in 7 weeks.
The rear bumper from Tactical Armor Group I ordered with swing out spare tire mount w/provisions for mounting 2 jerry cans and a hi-lift jack. I ordered it bare because they don't do powder coating only painted or spray on bed liner. I've seen both of these peel and start to rust.
As I said I ordered both in June and received the front one on Sept 10th,2015.
The rear just showed up this past Thursday, Saint Patrick's day March 17th 2016. And I still have to get it powder coated for another $600.00

Re: Buckstop Bumpers?

Also, I have yet to mount either one but intend to get the front one mounted up in the next week or so.

Re: Buckstop Bumpers?

The bumper is shaped a little different from 73 to 80 is straight across and 81 to 87 has a slight v shape using a 81/87 bumper on a 73/80 takes a little adjustment to keep the bumper from rubbing sheet metal and you have a slight gap right in the center
