engine oil cooler
Gonna have to replace the rad in my truck. Spid says it has an eoc but im not sure if the truck has that now.4.3 v6 . Probably not the orig rad in it now, doesnt look like it is.question, how is the eoc plumbed to the rad? Was told it comes from the oil filter mount. Ive never ran across this situation before.no info in my chiltons book, either. Pics, anyone? Thanks.muley

Re: engine oil cooler
The engine oil cooler was mounted ahead or the radiator ;the lines leaked after a couple of years and most were removed.Yours is likely long gone and has nothing to do with the radiator.

Re: engine oil cooler
It's a bit different animal, but on my '85 C3500 it's a separate core about a foot square mounted in front of the radiator. An aluminum adapter - about 1.5" thick which has an identical fitting as the block - bolts to the oil filter boss on the block, and two hard lines run up beside the base of the block and turn to rubber lines at the front of the block, which drape down under the front crossmember (the smaller one ahead of the main cradle on 2WD's) and up into the cooler. Mine, too, are starting to seep at the hydraulic crimp joints, but I'm keeping it for the big 454.

Re: engine oil cooler
My 83 C20 camper special has a factory oil cooler. As stated above, it has a small radiator in front of the main radiator. I have owned this truck for the past 14 years and 30,000 miles and have never had it leak. It gets a workout in 110 degree desert heat. However, if you don't have a special need for extra cooling I would not go out of my way to install one (just one more place for oil leaks.)
