Destroking a vortec 454 into a 427 or 440?

Ive never really looked into the vortec stuff much i just bought a 98 2500 with a dead 454 its a green extended cab longbed are any of you familiar with doing that? Also whats a good combination i want to make between 470-550 hp and same for torque

440 is a chrysler. Get a stock 3.76" crank and you have your 427. But your doing this with a peanut port head so there is no point. Do research, there is everything you can imagine available on the subject already written and waiting for you to read and learn about.

The vortec heads aren't a "peanut port" head, they are more of a large oval. If I had a way to send a pic easily I would add it (after a trip to the garage ).

OP, you want a stroker , nothing to be gained by reducing the cubic inches.
OR - just a 454 rebuild and with a better cam should be right there, as long as you don't strangle the intake or exhaust.

L29 head won't care for a dome and you'll need one with a 3.766" stroke.
Rebuild it as a 454 and deck the block, add a towing cam 214/221 on a 114 LSA and pair of headers. Then get it tuned. You'll have a torque pig that'll actually knock down some decent mileage.
