What are you using for headers?
My exhaust system has been neglected long enough. Who out there is using headers on their rig? I'd appreciate feedback on what brand/size you're using and your opinion on them. I'm looking at Hooker Super Comp 1-5/8" headers right now for about $300/pr
Does anyone make a pre-bent stainless exh system for Blazers?

I considered aftermarket headers for about a minute.
I ended up with a set of Corvette centerdumps.2.5" outlet. No problems with bolts backing out,manifold leaks,fitment issues. Just cut off the alt. mount and bolt it on. Pace Parts has them for $126.74 each. Here's the link clickhere

I am running Flow-Tech. Mounted without a problem. I have only had them on for about two weeks so I am unsure has to how they will hold up.

I've got Doug Thorlys on my truck...love the low end they gave me and the thick flanges are 3/8" thick...I used the 300Y and had the notch the passenger side frame about 1/4" to clear them, but the 300Y's are his best flowing headers ever...then I made these up to keep the damn things from leaking...

I've got flow-techs too. The previous owner installed them. They seem to work well.

Any of you guys with Flow-Tech headers have spark plug clearance problems ?
I put them on my Blazer and ended up needing Accell shortie plugs to get the boot on the #1 plug |

I have the Hedmen Elite Series. They are coated with an aluminum type coating. They have Super Thick Flanges and thicker pipes than the standars Hedmen. I ran the standard hedmen fer like 6yrs then they warped and leaked real bad. The new ones, Elite series, I expect to last alot longer. Very nice fit, up nice and tight with the frame rails too so trail damage is less liklly.
Oh and I am using Stage 8 hedder bolts to prevent them from comming loose and burning out the gasket. Works GREAT!! Oh and I paid like 260 from summit! Good Luck

Leinie, it is tight, but none of the boots are touching the headers. Most of my problems are because I got plug wires for my truck and the wires aren't quite long enough. I have heard that plug wires from an '82 vette are the way to go, especially with HEI.

I used Summit brand headers on my '71 K5 with no fitment problems other than I had to notch the header flange on the driver's side for the termperature sending unit.
I, too, am interested in sources for Blazer exhaust systems (I'd prefer aluminized or stainless but I'll take what I can get). |

I have aluminized exhaust on mine now. It's about 7 years and 20,000 miles old. The actual pipes are in good shape, however one of my tailpipe sections fell off! It rusted out at the weld. Thought I'd let you know my experience FWIW. If I go stainless, the welds will be stainless too - I would think that would last longer. But you also get what you pay for..... Paul
