TH350 six or nine tailshaft

I bought a 66 c10 short-bed roller: no engine, tranny, or driveshaft. I want to install a 350 engine with a th350 tranny. I have a th350 with the nine inch tailshaft. I assume most people install the short tail but are there any problems with using the intermediate tail transmission that I have? Or would I be wise to look for a short tail? I need to have a driveshaft made in either case.
Thanks for your help!

Re: TH350 six or nine tailshaft

That's the engine/tranny combo I'm running. 350 engine and a th350 with the 9" tail shaft. I had to have a drive shaft made. Everything seems to fit nicely.

Re: TH350 six or nine tailshaft

Does this mean going from, say, a 4-speed granny to a short tail TH350 doesn't require a drive-shaft modification?

What about a 700R4? No drive shaft mod?

Re: TH350 six or nine tailshaft

If you have a 9" rear tail on your TH350 then your driveshaft will work in you want to upgrade to a 700R4. I pulled a 9" out at the yard once and put it in my truck. I decided to go with a 700R4 and the shaft worked perfectly. This was in a short bed with a one piece driveshaft.
