WTB Original Blue Steering Wheel

Hello all, new guy here. Just picked up an original Arizona '71 C20 Cheyenne...original except an awful aftermarket steering wheel. I'd love an original (cracks are fine by me) blue steering wheel. If someone has one laying around, please let me know how much you want for it. Thanks.

Re: WTB Original Blue Steering Wheel

Welcome to the board! A original Blue wheel is probably the hardest to find in any condition. They do have reproduction Blue wheels, but I'm not sure how the quality is.

Re: WTB Original Blue Steering Wheel

Need to remember there are two blue wheels of the correct style, the 69 Dark Blue and the 70-72 Blue.

Re: WTB Original Blue Steering Wheel

Tim,

Thank you for the reminder. I hope that someone out there has a wheel that could be functional for a few years until I decide to do a restoration. The truck runs so well that I just want to enjoy driving it for quite some time and get some good miles on it before getting into serious resto work.

Right now, I'll take any blue wheel as it will likely be better (even with cracks) than the $20 Wal-Mart special someone put on there long ago. I assume, being that this truck has been in CA and AZ for quite some time, that the original steering wheel had been severely sun damaged and was replaced with the aftermarket junk that's on there right now.

I'm only offering because you are a fellow NC man and you said any blue wheel. I took this off my one owner 71 from NC. The guy was still driving it but it was too far gone for me. Pay shipping and it's yours.

Re: WTB Original Blue Steering Wheel

OK I'm curious, what would it cost to tool up and recast existing cores?

Re: WTB Original Blue Steering Wheel

I've had one nice few small cracks dark blue 69 wheel. I've never had a decent light blue one.

I can remove nicks, scratches and chips and make them nice and shiny but I can't fix cracks
