window crank handle will not come off
I recently bought an 86 k10 Silverado. I wanted to remove the door panel to push out a dent. The clip on the crank is gone but the handle will not come off. I have checked for a set screw none there. I looked for epoxy residue and don't see any. Large screw driver as a pry bar does no good. The only thing I can think to do is drill in the center and use a small puller, but I hate to ruin an original handle. Anyone have any ideas?
I also was going to clean and lube the regulator while I was in there. Wayne |

Re: window crank handle will not come off
Heat it up a little. I would use a small plumbers torch.

Re: window crank handle will not come off
I thought about some heat, haven't tried it yet for fear of destroying the door panel. I may try a heat gun with cardboard taped to the panel.
wonder if the brake cleaner may soften the vinyl? Wayne |

Re: window crank handle will not come off
I blow dryer on low heat might be safer. Hold it back if need be. Actually a plumbers torch probably isn't the best tool for the job. Lol.

Re: window crank handle will not come off
instead of the cardboard idea what about sheet metal? And maybe some damp cloth between the metal and the door panel?

Re: window crank handle will not come off
dremel it off or cut notches in it to relieve the pressure on the splines, new handle is cheap only $10 bucks at local parts house

Re: window crank handle will not come off
what about a very small hole in the center of the handle, right in the middle of the splined shaft then give it a squirt of your weapon of choice

Re: window crank handle will not come off
Drill and tap the center of the handle, put a bolt in it, and press the handle off.
