New lift kit questions

I'm getting ready to buy a 2-2.5" lift kit. Ive looked at many but think ive settled on one http://www.truckspring.com/suspensio...del=K10-Pickup . will this be the one? its a 71 k10 front discs, add a leafs in the rear, power steering w/ stabilizer, 283ci/th350 3.07 gears front and rear, stock hubs. Hope I'm not forgetting anything important. Trying to clear 255/85/R16s and make it a little more off-road worthy and tough looking as the backroads of the Idaho rocky mtns. require. Will be used for 50/50 offroad/onroad, light hauling, regular mud and snow, hunting/fishing and a fun cruiser. Anyone have experience with this lift? anything I should watch for or corrections to be made? Other options cheaper or mo better?

Re: New lift kit questions

Thanks. been sitting stagnant for a year. Chomping at the bit to get going on some resto and upgrades. Love the Impala. Theres something special about that era muscle car. my father had many and sold them all. We are looking for one to build. Something we can do together and something to remember him by(or maybe ill go first! lol). He was a mopar guy primarily. He had a 70 super bee hopped up with irrigation handline for exhaust, 69 challenger black on silver, Studebakers, GTOs. He drives a Tundra now Something will come along. Nice car.

Re: New lift kit questions

I don't have any experience with your lift but i can tell you my 4" with 33" BFG's gave me 12" from the tire to fender clearance on the front, and the same or a bit more on the rear, lots of guys here say a set of 35" will be fine on a 4" lift.

I think it would be real safe to say that i could run a 2" lift with my tires. The tire you posted converts to a 31"X 8.86" which tells me again that you should be fine.

Re: New lift kit questions

Lots of people run 2.5 inch lift with 33's with no problems.

Re: New lift kit questions

I'm running 32 11.50 on rally's with no lift. 255 85 is a great size often overlooked tire

You might try replacing all of the shackle and spring bushings rubber/poly whatever they are and that could get you all you need. I used to run that tire on my 85 3/4 ton no problem. It's a tall tire not very wide which helps

Check the 4x4 build section too.
