shorty plug for vortec heads?

1st of all, in my 1st post I would like to say that this is an awesome collection of knowledge. I just bought my 1st C10 a few weeks ago and this is the 1st old/v8 ride i've had in a long time. Thanks for all of the great knowledge.

I have been searching high and low for shorty spark plugs for my crate motor. It's the standard 350/330hp i see commonly advertised. Just searching for regular plugs for vortec heads is a challenge...lots of talk about .715 depth vs .708, etc. and even with seasoned moderators there seems to be no consensus.

With that said...
Does anyone make a shorty plug for vortec heads? I just put headers on the truck and regular plugs are super tight.

Re: shorty plug for vortec heads?

Welcome to the board , I found this
"9:1 compression - AC - 45 heat range - I think the plug is a R45TS
9:75-10:1 - AC - 44 heat range - R44TS
"

I had the same engine in a camaro , and vortec heads on a chevelle , great running engines , they like 32 degrees total timing which is low , but what is suggested the 350 330 makes 350 horse with headers and a good carb ,, Remember they need a heater bypass to cool , are different in that way from other small block heads

Re: shorty plug for vortec heads?

I think the vortec plugs require a longer reach. I've seen this one recommended

Re: shorty plug for vortec heads?

Thanks. Truck has R44LTS plugs in it. And I ended up putting some R44LTS6 plugs back in it. I believe the "6" plug is the save as the R44LTS, just a wider gap of .60

But i'm looking for a shorter plug on the ceramic end...that will allow a little more clearance from the header tube. If your original suggestion is, in fact, a short plug...then I will check it out.

More VORTEC confusion - seems there's also no consensus on gap settings for these heads either... i've read .045 up to .065

Yes - definitely a longer reach, but I'm also looking for a shorter reach on the ceramic end of the plug
