64 C20 Going to Germany in a week, parking brake cable help !!!!!!

Hi All,

I just purchased a 64 c20 long bed for my cousin in Germany. I have sorted all the little things out so he can register it in Germany except the parking brake cable issue that has been haunting me now for 1 month.

The truck is a 3/4 ton and therefore has a larger rear end than the c10( I believe). I have the entire parking brake cable assembly on the truck besides the two rear cables. I ordered the cables (hard to find) and i believe they are correct. I am missing what ever holds the cable housing from slipping into the backing plate. If someone could post some pictures of a C20 rear end and the rear parking brake cable assembly such as brackets and where it enters the drum that would be greatly appreciated. I searched for 1 hour but it seems that no one has posted a picture of the backing plate.

Those are just the gaskets....... The correct cables would have the brackets that bolt to the backing plates

Here is what the correct cable LOOKS LIKE ( THIS is NOT the cable for your truck just what it LOOKS LIKE ) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-68-Chev...dWntzU&vxp=mtr

this MAYBE the one you need http://www.ebay.com/itm/Parking-Brak...BV3zdF&vxp=mtr

If you were able to order the proper E brake cable they will/would bolt on to the backing plate over the slots. From what I understand the ones for your backing plate are almost impossible to get. I'm not saying you can't but the more common type clip into the backing plate. There was a post on here a while back where your style backing plate was modifide for the clip in cables. If you search drum brake dilemma I think you'll be able to pull it up. Good luck

Not a problem to get.... you can have them made if nothing else

From your pics it looks like your RIGHT intermediate cable is missing

Thank you for the input everyone. I am sure this is a long shot but does anyone know where I could possibly find these cables or someone who might have a parts truck. Because its going to Germany I have to fix them, otherwise he will not be able to register it.

Thank you all

I wish my cousin was that kind. He would probably say "f**k it, fix the old plough yourself".

To be honest, it doesn't have to be fixed in the US. It must be fixed for the registration (which will take a while anyway), but certainly NOT for the export.

Nevertheless, since the truck is in the states, it's easier (and cheaper in terms of taxes and delivery) to send all necessary parts with it.

I'd also suggest to send some common spare parts with it too, i.e. wipers, brake components, extra tyres and what not.
