Need options for front end upgrade for 1966 c20.
Trying to upgrade this 66 c20 i got. Dont really want to 5 lug swap it. Would do disk brake 71-72 crossmember swap. Or 73-86 c10. But options for keeping it 8 lug are what? Any help or info is greatly appreciated. Since you cant swap out lower control arms cuz of the way these mount. Ive been seeing online guys saying theres a spindle swap from 94-99? Idk that uses a 3/4 ton lower ball joint? If this is a option what would i need to do a disk brake 3/4 ton spindle swap and what booster? Also what rear ends work? Theres a guy who has a full floating 98 8 lug with 3.73 gears. This sounds way better than my 4.99 gears now LMAO its bad. How difficult is it to swap in? Or should i just do a 5 lug swap. Im going to do this paint it and resale it. So im looking for what is more liked as far as c20 wise? I allways have bought and keep original. But this front end is wobbly and brakes are sketchy and rear is loose. Other than that its a solid fully optioned 66 c20? Ideas, help, info, direction all appreciated. Thanks.

In the second video he mentions using a 1991 Suburban, which would be the same as 73-87 truck.

1991 was the last year of the square body for Suburbans.

Didn't know that. So let me ask can you just take a crossmember and all the bells and whistles from a 73-87 truck an it should bolt in with little to no modification?

I haven't personally done it, but from what I understand, you will have to drill 1 hole and elongate 1 hole per side.

I was very surprised at how easy it was to swap the front crossmember from the newer truck. You can bolt it in place and get the other holes lined up on the side of the frame rails. The idler arm will need to be lined up and holes drilled. Also the sway bar to the front of the frame rails if your putting a sway bar in that is. A bracket for the power steering and Bob's your uncle! I haven't had mine in to get an alignment yet but it's all in there.

Re: Need options for front end upgrade for 1966 c20.
Does anyone know if 1990 chevy van 20 with 5 lug disks is the same as up to 91 burbs meaning it will swap into my 66c20? Ive looked far and wide all over the net. Cant find an answer. This crossmember on the 1990 van looks just like all the 73-85 c10 crossmember swaps to me? But i cant deal with the hard work of removing it if it wont 100 percent work. Its half off and the junk yard is closing tomorrow at 5 for good so might beable to get them to just chop off frame at end of day. If anyone can help me out id appreciate it. If not gotta pay more and still need rear end swap.
