Rear axle swap question?

I have a 65 c10 2wd it is set up with trailing arms. I am wondering if there are specific years or different vehicles I can find a axle with disc brakes I can swap in.

Re: Rear axle swap question?

Most of the later model differentials with factory disc brakes are going to be about 3" wider than your current 12 bolt. The Colorado/Canyon trucks have a differential that is 1" narrower, but I do not know if they come with discs. Plus you will have to cut off all the original brackets and weld on the trailing arm mounts and a panhard bar mount. IMO it is easier and better to just convert your 12 bolt to discs. I make 5 different rear disc conversion brackets, 3 for 5 lug and 2 for 6 lug. I also make trailing arm mounts if you decide to go that direction.

Thats what I'm doing. I bought a 5 lug conversion with a posi and am going with a rear disc conversion. You already have a rear end that fits. EZ Peezy . . .
