Reasonably priced steering column parts??

So, found more problems with my project lol. It's missing the upper bearing retainer cup, the lock plate snap ring, and the plastic cover plate. The only place I found that stocks them wants crazy high prices. The friggin snap ring is $10!! The plastic cover, $25.

I would try to source another snap ring, but I'd prefer to just get the part I know that works. The plastic cover plate I don't even know if I need since I'm going to an aftermarket wheel.

Anyone have a source?

I imagine your best bet is to get a junkyard column.

Well, I'm guessing this is not a good sign:

Re: Reasonably priced steering column parts??

Just pay the $35 for parts and get it fixed. That's not a lot of money. Otherwise I would suggest what Slowtard suggested, hit the junk yards and grab a complete column and swap it. Only takes about 30 minutes to get one out, it saves you the hassle of sourcing parts and save a lot of time to boot. You'll pay more than $35 though most likely, about $100 around here, and double that for a tilt. But there are literally dozens of trucks in the yards to choose from.

Re: Reasonably priced steering column parts??

I think I paid $60ish for a tilt column at the local Pick N Pull last year, so location matters.

Do you have that star plate that goes on below the retainer ring?

Yep, got that.

Do I need the plastic cover if I'm going to an aftermarket wheel?
