LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
Hello Guys
Have been reading and looking for information on this forum for a long time but finaly I decided to do a build thread. I bought the truck 1 year ago and since that the truck has been sitting in my shop but this week I startet to work on it. The truck is a -64 lwb fleetside, sold new in Sweden and I will do a swb stepside of it, this will be a slow build thread beacuse it so expensive to buy the parts for it here in Sweden When i bought the truck it was blown in pieces and I dont have a assembly manual and now other truck to look at how things should be My progress so far is: Frame is shorted, cab is back on frame. Next step is to mount a rearend from a Camaro -88. I will try to post Pictures later, i didnt work this time and i dont know why See yah |

Welcome from England, looking forward to the pictures. A 64 short box stepper is way cool, but I am biased

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
I think i will go for installing the bed as the next step.
Does any one know the dimensions of the cross sills?? What i have understod the 60-66 are diffrent from earlier years? http://www.mar-k.com/bed_side_interchange_gm.aspx Do i put the bedsides directly on the cross sills or should it be wood between the cross sill and bedside? Would be wonderful if someone has a reassembly picture/describition of that /C |

Welcome.
I think if you use search words like "short step side" "stepside bed" "Short bed assembly" you may find some threads in the general section. Also, maybe someone will see what you, have asked in your thread here. What has happened to your long bed?? Are the bedsides that bad, or have you sold them?

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
Hello and aboard…
Looks like a great start… If I can help with the step side bed questions, I will try... I have a manual somewhere that I will dig through and try to find a diagram for you...

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
60-62 cross sills are different to 63-66, I have brand new (64) ones from LMC waiting to be fitted, I will measure them at the weekend and let you know.
Likewise the rear (panel under the tailgate) cross sill is different. This is due to the differences in the chassis of these years, luckily the 64 ones are cheaper too

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
Taxes are different in every country.
Also depends on threshold of taxation. I think in the UK parcels under £20.00 or around SK242.00 are free from tax. Best is to Google your government tax scales. Some American companies are very helpfull. Some are not. Hope that helps.

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
Here are the only pages I could find that showed the step side bed…
Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr The bedsides bolt to the front panel and the real lower cross panel, the cross sills bolt to the 90 degree angle strips that are along each bedside at the floor level… Here are some random pics of my bed as it is currently upside down getting some attention… Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Rear cross panel… Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Cross sills should be bolted to the bottom side of these side pieces, as stated above, the bed is currently upside down so these sills are bolted to the top side…. done to gain ground clearance on the stand I am using… Untitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Hope this helps… if you need additional pics, just ask...

Welcome to the forum
Did you purchase this truck from another forum member? I seem to remember someone else from Uppsala, I just can't remember his name.

Bedsides are bolted directly on the cross sills. My friend has a -57 stepside and on that one ther is "wood" between the cross sills and bedsides.. /C |

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
The wood will be between the cross sills and those 90 degree pieces that are bolted to the bedsides... Sorry for the confusion, I have them wrong in the picture since the bed is currently upside down on a roll around stand...

Re: LWB Fleetside to SWB Stepside in Sweden
Here are the sizes of the cross sills (in millimetres), you will see from the first picture there are quite a few holes in them, if you can ship some into Sweden at a reasonable cost it will probably be quicker to buy them
