Wheel dollies
I'm looking for a set of dollies to move my truck around in the garage. Looking for recommendations and opinions. I was looking at the ones harbor freight sell and were considering them. They appear to be ok and there is a HF close by here versus paying shipping. With that being said I usually by tools with the intentions of being the last one I need ( you know what I mean ) Would like to hear what you guys have/are using.
Thanks in advance Ray

Re: Wheel dollies
I ordered two seats from Summit. Try are aluminum and are rated at 1500 lbs. I can roll around my truck by myself. For some reason they changed wheels on second set and they move easier.

Re: Wheel dollies
Years ago I bought four heavy duty furniture moving dollies for $20 and still use them.
Then I picked up a set of Go Jacks that are really useful for vehicle moving. They make it so easy, especially when I am positioning the frame under the body for reinstalling it. The Go Jacks are a bit pricey and they are really well built, so they should last for many years. |

Re: Wheel dollies
I bought a set of the HF ones. They are really cheap and are classic Chinese quality. To give you an idea of just how poor the quality is, the center hole drilled for the cast iron wheels is off center. In other words they rock like a hobby horse when rolled. Since I have a very light car on them it still rolls easily but a 4,000# car would be a problem. Like all HF stuff, won't likely be the last one you buy but will do short term.

Re: Wheel dollies
I had the harbor freight ones, and they are garbage. They bent under a 78 k10.

Re: Wheel dollies
I'm going to have to agree, HB car dollies are junk for a Car/Truck. I do have their furniture dollies for lawnmowers, axels, and other heavy stuff. No where near as much weight as a car. Cheap and handy for that stuff.

Re: Wheel dollies
Check out Auto Twirler brand. I'm happy with the ones I got. They are American made and have grease zerks in the castors. I too only want to buy a tool one time if I can.

Re: Wheel dollies
My brother bought the Harbor Freight ones for his Nova. They work great. I can move the car by myself. It is a relatively flat floor with no major cracks/edges though.

Re: Wheel dollies
Thanks guys, I think I will definitely past on the HF dollies. They may be ok for a lighter car. I have looked at the Go Jacks, there are nice and the fact that you don't have to jack the vehicle up is a plus.
My garage is tight and I'm just looking for something I can move my truck around easier at times. Thanks, Ray
