Duramax swap Fuel Tank advice please!

I am trying to figure out my plan for the Fuel Tank in the '71. I've got some rough sketches made up for an under bed fuel tank. It will not be mounted behind the rear axle like the Blazer tank swaps. While looking through the Young Frankenstein build, I saw what I wanted to do. He used the factory fuel filler in the cab, and routed the hose down to the tank.

Here is what I'm thinking:
Use the factory tank in the cab. That gives me 19 Gallons.
Cut a sump into the bottom driver's side of the tank. Like this one:

I'll come out of that sump (3/4 NPT) to a ball valve. From there to my under bed tank with a -16AN braided hose. The tank will be 10" x 10" x 40". This will give me roughly 16 gallons. I'd go from the under bed tank to the first filter using a short -08AN hose. Then to the lift pump, to the engine.

I know coming out of the bottom of the stock tank will get some negative remarks. I'm open to anything at this point. I just want to get the fuel system done. Then I can run this thing!

Re: Duramax swap Fuel Tank advice please!

Also I figured I would run a vent with a rollover valve in the new tank, up to the factory tank vent using a Tee there.

This forum might be a better place for diesel swap info:
