Seeing pictures will just show a nice black frame no matter what product is used. Rustoleum will look like any of these shown in pictures. If you were considering POR-15, you should take a look at www.masterseries.com . Their quality starts where POR-15 leaves off.

Well I think where off to a good start guys KEEP them coming!. i guess what i mean is i like the artistic side of seeing a nice paint frame and theres a lot of them on here!! dont kare if its different color spray bomb or powed coated. shooting for durability.. some people don't spend any time on this because its under neath and know ones going to c it.. not saying thats a bad thining. but when i go to car shows and c a nice paint truck and look underneath and c rust dirt or paint over dirt its a big turn off... so pls post more pics of your nice painted frame u worked hard on!.

Here's mine. It's painted with an industrial urethane, self prime. Made by General Paint. Extremely durable.

Here's some of my 71 C20 stake body dump. nothing fancy just blasted ,primed with good old Rust Oleum rusty metal primer and painted with Rust Oleum gloss black. Say what you will but I've found it to be very durable. I did the sub-frame on my 69 Camaro in 1986 and its still on there.

That's cool. I feel the same way. I always painted the frames of my vehicles even before I did my first frame-off in '80. I thought you started the thread to get help on deciding what to use, not a picture thread. My project has been sitting, so needs to be cleaned up to look fresh again, or I would post it up

Re: Painted Frames post pictures pls... Por 15 - Eastwood .ss paint

The first question should be what are your plans for the truck ? trailer queen /drive to local shows /daily driver / parked in the garage for the occasional ride to town ? Second what is your frame paint budget ? Third how far are you going to take the prep work ? sand blasted to complete bare metal all suspension removed restoration or just a pressure wash cleanup and scuff before shooting it black ? You can spend less than $100.00 and have a nice looking frame over 1 weekend or you can spend weeks and $1,000.00 + to powder coat it after Prep, prep, prep. Asking what do I use will bring 20 answers and none will be specific to what your intentions are without pictures and intended use , Why spend big dollars using expensive rust preventive coatings when it's just a daily driver and that frame already made it almost 50 years ?

MAN!!! these pictures look great.. I AND THE PEOPLE WANT MORE!!.... I figured all this time on paint work might as well show it off.. as for my project I was going to blast and undecided to por 15 and topcoat with the chassis uv coat but didn't want it to fade being on my drive way in the sun nor be glossy going fro satin.its going to be a daily cruz driver. .. the por 15 is what im use to because I work in Alaska for two yr and that S**t is hard to get off exposure to sait and high temperature good luck.. but I dont care how u choose to paint your fram I just would like to c more of this nice painted frames.. Keep posting they been great so far

Frame should be painted on any decent restoration. As Special-K suggested, I'm using the Master Series. You don't blast, I hear it's real toxic. You use a brush/sponge applicator. Wish I had a picture for you.....that would mean I've finished the frame. Hope to have it done before the fall. I think this is the link Special was looking for: http://www.masterseriesct.com/

Re: Painted Frames post pictures pls... Por 15 - Eastwood .ss paint

Only experience I have, no pics, is the POR.
I believe you can top coat it with almost whatever.
I hit mine with satin catapillar implement paint. Do it before cured or even still tacky. Durable as hell.
Interested in that masterseries if it's that much better. Can't even imagine.

Re: Painted Frames post pictures pls... Por 15 - Eastwood .ss paint

Here's mine, powdercoated satin (low gloss) black. It may not be "correct" but I did spindles, control arm shafts, springs, and steering linkage powder coated in two different greys for variety and contrast.

You can't beat powder, and the cost of entry (which is an acid wash, steam clean, and pre-bake) is worth the job alone. If you could get it clean enough, I'd do:

- PPG DP90LF primer
- DCU 2060 low gloss clear

I'm pretty sure you can shoot clear right over that primer, but double-check. Otherwise you'd need a black color coat in between, but I don't think you do. The DP90 is close to indestructible wherever I've used it. And hard to sandblast off too! Kinda like POR-15.

My 70 CST Longhorn is going on this 03 Duramax frame that was pretty rusty. I pressure washed, knocked down what I could, did a rust conversion on it and final coated it with Eastwoods Rubberized Rust Encapsulator. Turned out nice, only time will tell if it will hold up...

Media blasted , Zinc enhanced Epoxy coated then shot the rails and 2 crossmembers in same color as body (blue) all other parts that will be bolted on the frame from this point shot in a satin black. All Paint coatings and epoxy were from GCI industrial coatings . if you ever done any restoration on anything military.... Army ,airforce ,USN then you will the name Gillespie Coatings INC , they have earned the reputation for very durable coatings .

Re: Painted Frames post pictures pls... Por 15 - Eastwood .ss paint

This is my C10 frame. Not painted yet. I hope to have it primed and painted by the end of this weekend. I already bought implement gloss black. I like the satin on 2manycars2littletime's frame. May consider changing. I also may spend the money and get single stage PPG like I did on the S10 frame.

This pic is of a S10 I did last year. It is a 2015 Mitsubishi color. I can't recall the code or name but it is called Titanium somth.
