Help a fellow owner out.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/6066..._comment_reply

A lot of people have been following this guy's trip home from Salem OR to Orlando FL. His truck has had a lot of break downs along the way and he had all of his money stolen but he managed to make it to Seguin TX. He can't afford to fix his truck or get a bus ticket for his dog that he has with him. There are some FB members who can help him out but it's getting down to crunch time for him. He has a job interview on Monday and a wife waiting for him. If anyone can help him out with some cash or some expertise and a place to work on his truck you would be a hero. Sounds like it might need a head gasket and the carb cleaned. His paypal is mj_photography@aol.com.

Re: Help a fellow owner out.

Define bad luck.

Not much I can do from Germany though. Hopefully my small donation helps a bit.

I hope he gets home soon. With the dog. It certainly will be a road trip he'll never forget.

I've been following this one for a while. He was going to sell his truck but luckily everyone convinced him not to. Hope he makes it home safely with his truck and dog

Re: Help a fellow owner out.

He has donations now for a Uhaul and trailer to get it to a guys shop who donated a new motor. He will have it there tomorrow and the new motor will be in soon! I'm not sure but I hope he got enough for a room and some food for him and his dog. Last I heard he hasn't had a shower for 5 days. lol Here is a pic of the truck and the gassy dog. Keep the donations coming in so he can get home to his wife and child. You guys are great!

Re: Help a fellow owner out.

Well he got it running and running smooth by changing plugs and wires. The cap and rotor were messed up so those were changed out also. He hit the freeway and it puked out the coolant and started blowing white smoke. He will have it towed to the guys shop with the new motor and have it swapped out. He did get a room and got some sleep, food and a shower.

Re: Help a fellow owner out.

Any news regarding (t)his road trip?

Not much info on the FB-site...or I'm too stupid to use it (which wouldn't surprise me).

For those of us without face book, we can only guess he made it.

I was thinking the same. Someone fill us in.

Re: Help a fellow owner out.

Here you go:

Quote:
Well, as I sit on my couch with my wife under my arms, and my daughter laughing her head off, I think of all of you. From donating time, parts, and money. I can not thank you all enough.

So, for those who are just catching on, let me tell you a story. About a man, a dog, and a 1964 Bagged Chevrolet C10 pickup......

So, we'll start on February 10th. It was a cold morning, I'd just left my house in Salem Oregon, headed to work like any other day. Since it was cold, and my truck hadn't fully warmed up, I left it running while I ran into my corner store for a pack of cigarettes and a coffee. Like any normal day. While I'm chatting with the store clerk, I notice someone hop into my truck, air up and haul ass backwards. I run out of the store, jump up, and go through my own windshield. Hit the guy a few times in the face, spraying his blood through the cab. I fall off the truck. I thought hope was gone. My truck was surely in a chop shop. But, the good ole boys in blue found it a few hours later. Still running, unnatended. Got the truck back the next day. They caught the guy who stole it. He recieved 30 years for Assault with a deadly weapon, attempted homicide, and grand theft auto. He also had multiple warrants.

Fast forward a bit. Me and the wife decided Oregon wasn't for us. We'd moved out here to be close to my mother, who I've never been close to. Once we realized she cared more about the church then her own family, we decided to head home.

Wife and daughter flew back February 16th.

I left Salem Oregon March 1st, 2016. First stop I took, was an awesome picture with mount shasta in the background. Truly awesome sight. Made it to some tiny town, around 60 miles north of Sacramento California. Breakdown ,#1. Harmonic Balance . Was back on the road the next morning thanks to Dan Webster. Made it to Anaheim California, where I know a lot of people. I used to be in the Marines, and would come up to Anaheim to get tattooed. While there, my friend said, hey man, we'll pay you to help out for this convention. awesome so, stayed 3 days in Socal. While in that ss, I met Yelawolf. He is an American hip hop artist. He actually has a song about our trucks. So, I decided to go to his show that night, in the convention.. while at his show, some slick punk reached into my pocket, and offed with my wallet. Which had my card, and a bunch of cash in it. At that point, all I had was my wife's paypal card, and my florida drivers license. So, I put the truck up for sale.

Little did I know, you guys would not let me sell it. Money came pouring in, with notes like keep trucking man. Semper fi. Keep on going. I know people doubted it. Thought I might be a druggy. I didn't want money. I wanted to be home. I made over 750 dollars in around 24 hours. I was back on the road Sunday afternoon! Me, the dog and the truck.

The first night we made it to Phoenix. One of my Sergeants from the a Marines was in a VA hospital there. I stopped in, to talk trash and lighten his spirits. The next morning I was off.

I drove far that day. From phoenix Arizona to Kerrville texas. That's when the truck started acting up. I started losing power, and pulled over. Found out I was low on oil, and the truck was hot. Decided to rest for a bit.

Woke up to a man I've never met offering to tow me to the parts store. Found out my starter was bad. Well crap! It's a brand new starter! NO BIGGIE! Changed it out, lucas oil, and we're back on the road.

A few hours later, after I'd passed San Antonio texas, the serpentine belt snapped. No worries, got an extra!

Around 30 minutes later, the truck was steaming like and old steam train. Pulled over. Thought water pump was out. Boy was I wrong. Changed points, cap, and rotor. Got it running. Awesome. Made it a mile before started lunking. Pulled over. Almost gave up. Didn't have enough to tow it home, or fix it. Again

Then my phone broke. That was fun. Haha

This page would not let me give up. Some random gentlemen in Seguin Texas helped this guy who hadn't showered in a week, was sleeping in his truck, and with my stinky dog at that. They got my truck running. Got lunch, hopped on the highway....

Well, around ten miles later, it all happened again. This time, the motor was shot. Mark said hey man, I've got a motor. I'll come get you, 80 miles away.

So we swapped motors. Which made it 45 miles before that one decided to do the same thing. Great. I had really given up. Didn't know what to do. Stayed in the cheapest hotel near me. Crack, and prostitutes. Not a good night's sleep.

Woke up, and Kevin said, hey man. Get to hammond Loisuanna, and I'll tow you home. So I went, got a uhaul, and drove 609 miles to make it to hammond. KEVIN towed me to Lakeland Florida, where my truck still sits. Waiting on the last piece of the puzzle.
I made it home to my family. But i wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for you. I can't believe the support I have gotten over the last 3 weeks. you guys are amazing and I will never forget you. I still have to get the truck running, and take the final picture, my dog, daughter, my wifr, and my truck. I love all of you. The story isn't over yet...
