I have got 2 sets of motor mounts that come from 292s, can I use them for a V8 or do I have to get dif. mounts.
Thanks

If I am not mistaken, the 292 used one V8 mount and straight 6 mount. The V8 mount, I think, was on the pass. side and the straight 6 mount was on the driver side. So you can use one of them but not the other.

ok,
problem I have now is all four mounts look the same, how do I tell which 2 to use. Is there a small dif. in measurements that I can try?

is it the mount on the frame or the mount going from the frame to the block. the mounts that are on the frame are the same as far as I know, or at least they are they same in a 79 chevy truck last time I did a motor swap in it.

these are the mounts that are bolted to the frame. I guess some people refer to them as towers? There are 3 holes in the frame to adjust the mounts.

the 6/250 stands will mount the sb, but will set the eng back 3 1/2" from factory v8 sb spot. I beleive the driver side is the same stand for 250 or 292, but the pass side is foward(you need to swap that one). The V8 sb stands mount in the foward holes on the frame, & also foward hole on the crossmember.....6 /250 stands mount toward the rear. good luck, crazyL

Can't help with the motor mount question for the Inline 6 but if you decide you need a pair of SBC V-8 mounts/towers I have a set from a 71 C-10 350 with A/T. $20 plus the shipping and they're yours. Good shape, just need cleaned, primed and painted. Includes attaching bolts if you want them.
