Speakers in kick panels
I am installing some new speakers in my 90 V1500 Suburban. I put new 3.5s in the dash. New 6x9s in the back and 4x10s in the front doors. I have a set of 4" speakers that I want to add to it as well. I am wondering if anyone has put 4" speakers in their kick panels. The other option I thought of was either in the trim between the front and rear doors or in the ac shroud in the back. If anyone has pictures of anything like this I would appreciate it.

Re: Speakers in kick panels
You can buy the aftermarket kick panels that are set up for speakers. These are really the cleanest way for installing speakers.

Re: Speakers in kick panels
All the aftermarket ones I have seen are for 6 inch speakers. I have a set of 4 inch speakers now just wondering if I could do it without having to buy another set of speakers.

Re: Speakers in kick panels
I'm going to put my speakers there, my understanding is they won't fit into the doors if you have power windows and the dash speakers would require me to put grills in the custom dashpad I am working on. Plus the biggest size I could do is a 4" I think.
What did you cut that with? I was thinking about a dremel or buying a hole saw, but I am shooting to fit 6.5's there. |

Re: Speakers in kick panels
I am going to use the stock dash where I have stripped off most of the offending cracking and such, then I will backfill with expanding foam, then stretch fiberglass over the whole thing, and wrap it in black vinyl.
Also, an assload of sanding in between the foam and fiberglass steps. For a long time I thought about just getting a snap on cover from LMC truck, they are only $99. |
