wtb EFE Valve (Exhaust heat riser)

Just another poor CA soul trying to appease the smog overlords. I am in need of an EFE valve (Exhaust heat riser) for an 83 K3500 with 454. It mounts between your passenger exhaust manifold and the rest of the exhaust, and has a vacuum actuator on it. Most of you probably ditched it with the stock manifolds in favor of headers long ago.

It's worth $50 + Shipping to you, to hunt one down and send it to 93616.

Let me know

Zack

Zack do you have a GM part number for it? If nothing else we can see what other models might work for you. I`m dealing with my own cali smog issues so I feel you. Those of us in smog jail need to stick together and keep these old girls running.

Re: wtb EFE Valve (Exhaust heat riser)

Should be GM# 1996643 which is discontinued but...... one from a few years newer should work. GM# 5234810 / AC Delco 214-510 is what I used to put on P chassis' with 454's and which should be available from Hamilton Manufacturing as part number HR810. This fit 350's with HD emissions (larger diameter opening on manifold) OR 454's. 305 EFE valve wont work as they used smaller diameter opening and smaller flange mounting bolt spacing.
You will also need to get a donut GM# 15592451 (this will be available from local auto parts store...)

http://www.autopartsobsolete.com/198...e-5234810.html

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-5234810-A...tVFyPr&vxp=mtr

Might also trying hitting up the junk yard. Doesn't need to work just as long as it is there and hooked up for the visual inspection....

Hope this helps.

Re: wtb EFE Valve (Exhaust heat riser)

I have a brand new Hamilton/LMC 2-1/2 heat riser, I'll sell it at cost.

Re: wtb EFE Valve (Exhaust heat riser)

Thanks for all the replies, I actually found the original in a box of parts that came with the truck when I got it. One of the first bits of good luck on this truck so far. Hopefully its the start of a trend ha ha.

Special thanks for the part no. for the donut. Now I can give the clown at the parts store a number to reference so I don't get the same dumbfounded look when I ask for it. I tried yesterday. It resulted in me having to explain what an EFE is, which resulted in having to explain what a butterfly valve is. And then an explanation of actuators and a vacuum system. I got nowhere fast and remembered why I come on here to discuss how and why, and only should go the parts store with part numbers to reference.
